Husbands submit . . . .

Chris Retz, whom has been in contact after he stumbled across my blog, recently sent me some CDs. One is of himself presenting a message, the others are of Brent Avery, founder of MEM Ministries.

I've just started to listen to these CDs - starting with the first of Brent Avery's. It's real interesting stuff - basically showing how Christ (and baptism specifically in this first part of his message) runs through all of scripture, from the first verse to the end. He even delves into the old hebrew and shows where the inspired word of God makes reference to Christ . . . very interesting stuff, which, once I finish listening to the whole thing I'll comment more on.

But he made some VERY interesting points, right at the end of his first sermon. He was talking about Adam, and how an old Jewish tradition says that Adam's sin was different than Eve's. Eve, it says, was deceived. But, in what is one of the very first foreshadowings of Christ in Scripture, Adam CHOSE to eat, knowing that the only way that he could be connected to his wife was to lay down his life in this way. Holy smokes . . . talk about humble pie.

And later, in Ephesians, it says to love your wife just as Christ loved the Church. I know the bible is the only inspired word of God. It'd be nice if he did more, but, man, when God inspires, he REALLY inspires. It's very interesting to hear about some of these connections.

I'm sure there will be more to come. Thanks Chris for the material.

Grace.

Rock on, yo!!! (He says with a raised fist) HA! In all seriousness, though, man...I'm glad you're enjoying that stuff so far. But as I said in my letter accompanying the CD's, the 3rd CD (The Tree of Life) is the real show-stopper. If you liked #1, I guarantee that #3 will rock your world!!! Even Brent feels that it's the best sermon/revelation he's ever shared. Oh, and when you listen to it, if you have any doubts about how dead on accurate his words regarding the tree are, remind me to tell you about an experience he and I shared in Israel once. I saw with my own eyes what I believe to be "proof positive" confirmation of exactly what he preaches about the tree. That's all I'll say about it for now, or I'll spoil the real zinger for you. But remind me to share that experience with you sometime after you've heard the sermon. It blew my mind and Brent's as well. But you're welcome, and I'm glad you've been interested in what you've heard so far. On another note, if that stuff has been a blessing to you, then I have a favor to ask in return. Brent is going back to Israel leading another outreach ministry team on Monday (5/23/05). Please be in prayer for their safety, but we don't worry about safety issues too much any more. We have the ultimate Protection in Him. Our real prayer is for effectiveness of the mission team. I've seen and been a part of what those teams are capable of, and it's awesome. Also, I'm leading a small tour group over there on 6/11/05 for ten days. We're going to hook up with Brent and his wife once we get there. The outreach team will be coming back to the States shortly after my tour group and I arrive, and Brent and I will then be leading the tour group through the Land. Please also be in prayer for that. I'm praying for mega-blessings for our tourists...full-tilt-boogie God style. But I'm also praying that not only will there be major blessings for our tourists, but also that we will be a blessing to the Land and it's people. And I'm not biased. I pray to be a blessing to Jewish and Arab inhabitants alike. If anything I've shared with you so far has been a blessing to you, please return the favor by giving us your prayers, as well as getting as many brothers and sisters as possible who you know and who are willing to also lend us their prayers, too. This has become my passion. And the blessings have been heaped back on me ten-fold for the efforts I've made in connecting with God's people and connecting other Christians with them, too. They teach me as much about Christianity without even realizing they're doing it as I am ever able to teach them. Just some prayer. That's all I ask. Who knows? Maybe some day you can join us over there, brother. As they say in Israel, "Next year in Jerusalem."
Thanks
Chris
